We define or identify miracles as supernatural phenomena like walking on water, creating some object out of “nothing”, and curing a disease without any medicine. Such events are outside what we normally observe with our senses and mind. These miracles can happen in four ways
1. “Miracles” of magicians
These are not miracles at all but the highly trained magicians can create an illusion. They can show an empty tall hat, keep it on a table upside down, and then show the audience a rabbit in it. The truth is that the rabbit was there inside a cavity in the table which comes into the hat.
Magicians’ tricks can be learned today by learning through books written about magic tricks, the internet provides such lessons or by a magic master.
2. Miracles by the power of demigods and spirits
The second type of “unnatural” events occur due to the activities of demigods, evil spirits, and unseen beings. Demigods can transpose objects from one place to the place where the miracle occurs.
3. Miracles by Yogic powers
The third type of miracles occur only very rarely. Some yogis or Sadhus, by deep meditation and yogic practices, acquire “supernatural” powers and can manipulate the five elements: Solids (Prithivi), Water (Jal), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu), and Space. Such extremely rare humans can manipulate the five elements (Pancha Maha Bhoothas) which the ordinary people see as a miracle
However, each time they manifest a miracle, a part of their yogic power depletes and they have to restore powers by repeated yogic practice
4. Miracles by unique Divine Advents
Extremely rare Divine Advents like Sri Krishna and Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba perform unbelievable miracles simply by “Sankalpa” or by the Vishwa Shakthi, the source or the root of all energies. Only such Divine Advents can create a living being.
Miracles of Divine Advents are meant to develop our Faith, Wisdom, and Attitudes and help us to spiritually advance and finally to reach Moksha. We will present many Miracles performed by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Bbaba in this page.
