What should be our attitude towards this life that has been given to us? Bhagawan lovingly explains to us today with a memorable example.

You have to read the newspaper to know how mad and foolish the world is; how futile is heroism, how momentary the glory; and after perusing it for the information it conveys, you throw it aside; it is now a tasteless waste. So too, live but once; so live that you are born but once. Do not fall in love with the world so much that your false fascination brings you again and again into this delusive amalgam of joy and grief. Unless you stand back a little, away from entanglement with the world, knowing that it is all a play whose director is God, you are in danger of being too closely involved. Use the world as a training ground for sacrifice, service, expansion of the heart, and cleansing of the emotions. That is the only value it has. Do not waste time purposelessly; let every moment be Bhajana. Know the purpose of Bhajana or Naamasmarana and devote yourself wholeheartedly to it; derive the maximum benefit from the years allotted to you.

உலகம் எவ்வளவு பைத்தியக்காரத்தனமானது, முட்டாள்தனமானது, வீரசாகசமெல்லாம் பயனற்றது, பேரும்புகழும் தற்காலிகமானது என்பதை எல்லாம் தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டுமானால் நீங்கள் செய்தித்தாளைப் படித்தாலே போதும். அதிலுள்ள செய்தியைப் படித்து முடித்ததும், அதைத் தூர எறிந்து விடுகிறீர்கள்; இப்போது அது ஒரு பயனற்ற குப்பை ஆகிவிட்டது, அவ்வளவுதான். அதைப் போலவே, நீங்கள் இந்த வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்ந்திடுங்கள்; ஆனால் மீண்டும் பிறக்காமல் இருப்பதற்காக வாழ்ந்திடுங்கள். உலகத்தின் மீது உங்களுக்கிருக்கும் பொய்யான கவர்ச்சியினால், சுகதுக்கம் கலந்த மாயையில் நீங்கள் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் வந்து சிக்கிக்கொள்ளும் அளவிற்கு இவ்வுலகத்தை நேசிக்காதீர்கள். உலகத்தின் பிடியிலிருந்து சற்று விலகி நின்று, ‘நடப்பதெல்லாம் ஒரு நாடகம், இதனை இயக்குபவன் இறைவனே’ என்பதை உணர்ந்தால் ஒழிய, அதனோடு நீங்கள் மிக மிக நெருக்கமாகிவிடும் அபாயத்தில் உள்ளீர்கள் என்பதை அறிந்திடுங்கள். தியாகம், சேவை, இதயத்தை விசாலமாக்குதல், உணர்வுகளைத் தூய்மைப்படுத்துதல் ஆகியவற்றைப் பயில்வதற்கான பயிற்சிக்களமாக இந்த உலகைப் பயன்படுத்துங்கள். இந்த ஒன்றுக்கு மட்டும்தான் இது பயன்படும். நோக்கமே இல்லாமல் காலத்தை வீணாக்காதீர்கள்; ஒவ்வொரு கணமும் பஜனுடன் கழியட்டும். பஜன் அல்லது நாமஸ்மரணையின் நோக்கத்தை அறிந்து, அதில் முழுமனதுடன் உங்களை அர்ப்பணித்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்; உங்களுக்கு ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட ஆயுட்காலத்திலிருந்து அதிகபட்ச பலனைப் பெறுங்கள்.
