Today is indeed a momentous occasion in the Sai Saga.
The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, the public charitable trust set up by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to be instrumental in the mammoth social welfare initiatives started by Him, completes 50 years of service to mankind. The trust was founded by Bhagawan on September 02, 1972 and ever since it has been Baba’s instrument, translating into action His message of selfless love, thereby touching the lives of millions.
Institutions such as the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences and so on continue to function under the auspices of the Trust. The monumental Water Projects were also carried out and managed through the Trust. The Trust has also plays an active role during times of natural disasters, joining hands with the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation and has earned a reputation for its prompt and sustained efforts in providing relief. Apart from these, the Trust has the sacred duty of being the caretaker of Prasanthi Nilayam, the divine abode and kshetra of Bhagawan.
Over the years, the Trust has been recognised for its contribution to society by both Governmental and Non-governmental institutions. More recently, the Trust was lauded for its work during the COVID pandemic by both the Central Government and the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. In June 2020, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations accorded an august global recognition to the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, for its unparalleled humanitarian work, by granting it a Special Consultative Status.
As the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust completes 50 Years, we offer at the lotus feet of Bhagawan gratitude for the opportunity to serve under His name, and a prayer to continue to inspire us to serve Him by serving humanity.
